Comfort Zones or Walls in your mind
Well the Fear Program is now closed but I thought I’d share this with you, have you ever thought how “staying safe” is robbing you of a full life?
This short video will explain how you create limits in your life and what to do about it (you’ll need your speakers turned on to hear the audio) .
Bye for now,
Anth.

Hi Anth,
I have been receiving your daily action tips since mid feb, and I find them very inspiring.
This post in particular hit key notes with myself as I have been unemployed for over 3 months now and have found myself becoming more and more confined in my comfort zone to the point that I am fearful of going down to the shops some days.
Look forward to your emails.

Very good, even though I had been here before (thinking around fear I mean - though far too often it is called lack of confidence which does not hit in the same way) you’ve put it across in a very intelligent and novel way. For instance, I never quite grasped that the comfort zone will eventually shrink and this is quite scary, but true. Thank you for this and all that you do.

Spot on!

Hi Anth,
As a friend and fellow traveller on our own self development road, I thought your video was right on the mark. Easy to understand, relevant in content and thought provoking with regard to implementation. I enjoyed the micro/macro analogy where small changes can produce greater and far reaching effects, which can seem out of proportion to the input.
It was great to see someone mirroring the actual content of the topic within the context of the video itself - what better way to talk about hills being a self imposed obstacle than riding to the top of one in reality, thereby demonstrating how it can be done and giving everyone a simple model to follow. Inspirational and thought provoking from someone who really “walks their talk”.

I GET IT! I REALLY DO! I CAN TOTALLY RELATE WITH “PROCRASTINATION IS YOUR BEST FRIEND”! I’VE GOTTEN TO THE ROOT SOURCE,(FEAR)! I’VE TAPPED INTO THE SPIRITUAL ASPECT! I READ,WATCH,LISTEN….TO EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HELP ME TO GET UNSTUCK! I’VE BEEN ON MEDS…OFF MEDS! I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP! YET,I AM ENLIGHTENED ENOUGH TO KNOW…I NEED TO HELP MYSELF! NOBODY CAN DO THIS FOR ME! OTHERWISE, I WILL STAY IN THIS “SELF INFLICTED BONDAGE”, THAT HAS ME STUCK IN THE TINY OVAL CIRCLE ANTH ILLUSTRATED! PROBLEM IS….I HAVE SO MANY REASONS (IN MY MIND) TO PROCRASTINATE, AND JUST AS MANY REASONS (REAL IMPORTANT ONES), NOT TO PROCRASTINATE. UGGHHHH !!!!
OH WELL, NOW THAT I’VE VENTED…..THERE’S ALWAYS TOMORROW! RIGHT?????? LOL
P.S. GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES TO ANYONE ELSE THAT IS “STUCK IN THEIR SAFE ZONE”

You are spot on Anth. The trouble is that our fear is usually experienced more as a sort of low level discomfort, rather than a trauma, which makes it easier to explain away or misattribute to external factors. It’s only when procrastination has led to a crisis and we really begin to feel the spine tingling anxiety that we can’t avoid recognising as fear, that we tend to take action and/or make resolutions about changing our lives. (Although when the level naturally abates it’s easy to go back to rationalising and living with it again.) Understanding what fear is, why we have personally learned to become fearful about certain things, and how we can unlearn this and live life to the full are difficult challenges. I am sure your programme will be tacking all of this.

Hi Claudia,
I couldn’t agree more and gaining that insight is one of the first key areas we’ll be looking at.
As ever though understanding and recognition are only the begining - there’s a huge difference between recognising something logically and actually living it :o) and that’s one of the bridges that this program was designed to cross.
All the best,
Anth.

Now that was GOOD. I’ve been listening to a lot of Anthony Robbins tapes and he is the greatest motivational trainer in the world, but this beats anything I’ve heard him say. Well Done, brilliant article.

Thanks Anth. This is the first video I have watched of yours as my inet was so slow. It is now improved somewhat so I am looking forward to watching/reading what I have previously skipped. What you say about changeable Comfort Zones makes sense. I have found in last year or so that I have taken on much more responsibility in working for my local Church. I HAVE “stretched” my comfort zone and now have some fear as to where this is taking me for the NEXT Church year? I am nervously awaiting the phone calls requesting I take on even MORE responsible work and Church positions…..but am finding the fear ISN”T unbearable?? Maybe that “stretching” is actually cathartic? Maybe there is some healing taking place? Watch this space!!!
