    Time Management & the Chicken

This video introduces what I believe to be one of the single best habits you could engage in if you want to destroy your productivity and your peace of mind. Sound crazy?

Chances are that you’re already doing it!

I’m also pretty sure you have never considered how a chicken can help you stay on track! I can tell you that came as a suprise to me :o)

    Bye for now,

    Anth.

Oh, my! It’s 11 am. Just where has the time gone? =)

Kidding aside, this has been a great post and I’m definitely going to implement the concepts.

Now … where did I put that chicken ….

I like this tip, it will help keep you on track as to where you are going when trying to finish your task. I have a hard tine getting started on projects for school. I think the list list making the night before is very helpful. I will try these tips.

      Hi Anthony

Bloody hell, I thought you were about 55 and an American! (An silvered haired etc.

Still, we can live with the reality.

Your emails and blogs are GOLD DUST.
It would be difficult to tell you just how much I get out of them.

Really…usually they bring up a way of looking at the subject that I hadn’t thought of..really creative.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks
      .
The video is right on the button.

Do another …you’re right procrastination is the no1 enemy, and I have found it is caused 75% by emotional hang-ups, 15% organisational flaws, n 10% stupidity.(Maybe 10 is a bit low..)

      Again many thanks

      Tom

Brill, Anth - and how sweet of you to do a video just for me! Actually it’s rather a comfort to know that other people have that ‘Oh shit where did the morning go’ feeling at 11.00 too. However - the list and the chicken’ll sort that out (actually - mine’s a lemon…). Like many people, I do the list last thing and set aside a quality 90 mins etc etc but not consistently! Maybe the red pen will do it this time… Keep up the excellent work, Anth - you’re an inspiration as you already know.

    8. Dean Says:

I’ve found myself wasting on the internet like this; great tip.

Lovely to see you again even if only on the blog! Great idea. I’m loving the tips, and getting loads out of them. Thanks Anth

    17. Valerie Says:

I agree with the fact that emails take up a huge amount of time and leave us tired for other tasks. I like the idea of NOT attending to our emails when we first settle in for a morning’s work.
      Thanks so much.

    18. Kim Says:

I love it! I’ve been getting your daily tips for ages and really enjoy reading them - some of the stuff is definite food for thought although putting it into action is often the hardest part.
I loved having you talk to me though - it added a whole new dimension to what I’ve been reading and had me smiling.
It became so much more personal and real. Well done!

    19. Michelle Says:

really helpful Started feeling a bit motivated which I have not felt for awhile. Going to go and find my own chicken timer tomorrow.

      Thanks for the tips.

      Michelle

    20. Devon Says:

Anthony, thanks once again for the tips. I am guilty of turning a five minutes checking my email into hours. Where can I get a step down timer to buy?

    21. liz Says:

This is great. I learn by watching. It seems I focus better when I can watch while you talk. Thanks for all the help you have given me this last year.

    22. Noel Says:

Quite hilarious to think I’nm doing exactly waht you are telling me not to.(There’s a time for everything!) Great advice mate and lovely to see and feel your warmth in the sharing of the tips. Brilliant advice - so down to earth and to use your own terminology actionable.
By the way - i first found you when i was seriously depressed. You made a contribution to my recovery anth for which i am very grateful. i’m now walking my truth just as you are yours Anth. I’ve attracted the perfect person into my private life to love me and am finding gems like you too. More power to your elbow! Back to my action list. Out with the timer and red pen. Love it!

    23. Sue Says:

      Hi
Liked your presentation on the video. I’ve used the timer and night before list techniques now and again in the past (tho not with the red pen) but haven’t kept them up consistently. Any tips for this? Thx

    24. olga flores Says:

Thank you very much for the tip I will put it to test and see if it works for me. OF

    25. Nicoleta Says:

      Thank you again and again.
Use you red marker on a line like this one:

HELP PEOPLE BE ENCOURAGED TO ACT AND BEGIN WITH A NEW BREADTH THE DAY AFTER THE NIGHT BEFORE WHEN WRITING THE TO DO LIST.

You are a kind friend to so many of us.
The chicken timer is a start, from scratch, to the other side of the road where we all hope to get.

      Far out, eh?

    26. Jani Says:

This video was great–Thank you. And thank you for all the little reminders each day. I’ve implemented several of your suggestions, some were winners for me.
Have a great day! My little chicken for the internet is a big red apple! It works! Thanks

    27. Jules Says:

Thanks a million, great advice. I use lists and diary entries which I put check marks to on completion but consistency is an issue for me. Red lining I think is a brilliant idea and what more does one need with a cockrel crowing at you for the finish line?…fantastic idea

    28. Debbie in NZ Says:

      Hi Anth

Not sure they sell the chickens in NZ but will certainly look out for one. I like the red marker idea but will be using red ticks next to my action items as I need to review back to what Ihave completed with my Manager. I really enjoyed the blog and getting to see you. Your words are more empowering when spoken. Keep up the great work. Really enjoy you daily emails.

    29. Jan Says:

Thanks Anth. It’s good to see you in person and I have made my first red cross through. Great ideas.
      1. no email first thing in the morning,
      2. make a list of things to do the night before,
      3. set aside time for specific tasks and use a timer to keep track of time, and
      4. use a red pen to cross off items as they are accomplished.
      Got it.

    30. kimberly Says:

I love what your are doing with your time! Keep spreading the good vibes and sending me emails! Great to see you!
