Celebrity Self-Help?
I recently watched a programme on TV by a British Journalist Dawn Porter and it really got me thinking about the power of creating a powerful future vision and the possible effects on your life.
Dawn seems to be on a mission to help herself and other women feel good about themselves whatever their body shape and I say more power to her.
So how could her mission help you?
Keep reading and it’ll all become clear.
In one particular section Dawn subjected herself to a photo shoot with some top glamour/fashion photographers. Once the shoot was over they then “improved” Dawn’s image by removing all of those imperfections that make her human.
The result was a “sanitized” magazine cover image that even caused even Dawn to say she looked beautiful!
Now if this was something that was achievable and desirable then I’d be all in favour of it because it would really help cement THE VISON of her outcome in her mind.
But when outcome is not possible this sort of image could become a curse as you try to live up to the impossible.
The most obvious sufferers being the celebrities themselves; imagine if you’d built your career pretending to the world you were perfect.
How much pressure would feel to live up to this “perfect vision” of you?
How much would it hurt when people pointed out all of your human frailties; still at least they are paid for it.
These celebrities are under tremendous pressure but you can learn something from their plight – and it’s not what shoes you should be wearing, or the best aftershave to wear.
You could recognise that you can use the very forces that are destroying their lives to help you create your desired future.
How?
First create a powerful emotion inducing “realistic” vision – the more real the better.
The truth is that taking control of your life takes effort and the lack of a compelling realistic vision is one of the most common reasons people fail to take action on their vague dreams.
Some people will scoff at my use of “realistic” saying you should dream big dreams and I’d agree that you are almost certainly capable of far more than you dare dream yet. However, I say realistic intentionally because you have to believe it is possible otherwise your unconscious mind will discount it - result no motivation!
Achieving your realistic vision will do wonders for you confidence and self belief and you can use this to build on your dreams supported by your record of success.
You might like to read the paragraph above again because it contains the secret of achieving anything you want in life.
Second, make your vision public!
Tell the people who are important to you what you are going to achieve. We are social creatures and we have a strong desire to appear consistent.
Making your vision public will help use this power to increase your motivation.
So why not take a few minutes right now and write out a vision of some desired outcome in your future – say something you want to achieve in 1-3 months. Add as much detail as you can:
What will you see, hear, and feel?
What could you do to make it even more compelling?
Who do you know who has achieved this?
Maybe you could ask for their help? Even taking the time to explain what you want to achieve, and how they might help will make the vision more concrete in your head.
Asking them for help – Well that’s going public :o)
I’ve got a lot more to say on this perfect celebrity culture, but that’s going to have to wait for another article.
In the meantime tell me what you think about this below.
Bye for now,
Anth.

Thank you, Anthony,
I know exactly what you are talking about and could not agree with you more. If we can do this, then we are practising one of the biggest secrets of the world.
I am on that journey.
Thank you.

Oh Goodness gracious. Sure I have a great big dream that may well be so realistic yet I have no faith in me to actually succeed. Oh so I have to start somewhere, and I have mentioned it to family and friends but a veil seems to appear and I just figured no one believes in me. Okay, so I have to believe in myself but I get stuck in my little rut and the big dream diminishes. That’s when I begin to just do whatever task must be done next because I am good at taking care of all the mundane duties at hand. After a bit the dream resurfaces, as you can well imagine, and I believe it is to be my ultimate purposeful good so I have faith again. I wanna make friends with my subconscious. Thanks, Anth for getting me going again.

Loved the video of perfection. I too would love to do that ‘makeover’ thing and have that feeling for a day. Pity it’s not sustainable. One tends to come crashing to earth if the reference points for self esteem are all external. I think I’m grappling with depression and I’m ashamed of that… feeling, along with everyone else, that I should just snap out of it.
I’ll stay with you Anth… and get some realistic dreams happening. Thank you…

I’ve procrastinated for oh, about 62 years now! Yes, really!
I’ve always “known” it, but til last week, didn’t realise that it’s become a pretty large road block that I actually can no longer see past. I’ve never actually sat down previously & focussed on the problem. But four days ago, I searched & found, the psychology of the problem, & now you can’t stop me, I’m getting right into doing things effortlessly & at speed.
I can’t believe I’ve had this noose around my neck for all these years, & all it took was a few minutes of my undivided attention to sort it.
Sooooooooo, look out world, because here I come!
