So why do so many people feel guilty taking some time off to have some fun?
Yesterday I logged a post on Facebook, through Twitter saying I was finishing touches to my thoughts for my outcomes session @ NLP Northallerton group last night.
One of my Facebook friends joked that the fact that you are on Facebook is a form of procrastination.
This really got me thinking…
Is socialising and keeping up with friends on line just a new form of procrastination or could be a great way to be more productive?
There is an old proverb that says: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” but it’s my opinion that not only would that make Jack a dull boy, it would make him a tired, unproductive, stressed and unhappy boy too.
If you want to be really productive, then you might be suprised that it’s time to…
If you’re destroying your productivity by procrastinating - constantly checking your email, surfing the web or with some other bad habits then this video is especially for you. It will introduce you to the hidden powers that are driving your behaviour and help you get started in turning this around today!
This video introduces what I believe to be one of the single best habits you could engage in if you want to destroy your productivity and your peace of mind. Sound crazy?
Chances are that you’re already doing it!
I’m also pretty sure you have never considered how a chicken can help you stay on track! I can tell you that came as a suprise to me :o)
Most of us think of time as pretty universal, but it turns out that we each have out own concept of time and this makes a huge difference as to how we experience the world, not to mention time management.
Our concept of time is so ingrained in us we often assume everyone experiences it in the same way we do. Nothing could be further from the truth, if you don’t believe me forward this to your friends and see how different their experience is to yours.
If any of this feels a bit weird, or sparks of some insights for you then why not share them and let’s start to appreciate how we’re more effective working together because of how different we all are.
If you are serious about being more productive then you might want to think about identifying what Dan Kennedy calls the ‘time vampires’ in your day.
I was recently talking to a senior scientist who is overloaded with work, too many things to do already and finding she can’t get ahead because every time she tries to get on with what she had planned for the day – someone interrupts he with something “important” - does any of this sound familiar?
If it does you might want some help in recognising the time vampires in your life.
Do you need to put off the things you enjoy in order to fit around the needs of others? Are you a busy parent? Do you have people who are relying on you? Are you in a demanding job? Working long hours to make ends meets? If so you’re not alone. I hear similar stories every week; “I’d love to (go back to school, go for a weekend away, find a relationship etc.) but I have to fit around other commitments”.
If this is you, my guess is that you’ll be surprised to find out that you need new glasses! Read the rest of this entry »
