If you can do better should you?

    March 11th, 2008

I’m not a career’s advisor but I am frequently contacted by people who don’t enjoy their job but lack the self-confidence to go after something else.

What do you think they should do?

As ever there is no “right” answer, there are many potential approaches some people would say “Get up and walk out!” and maybe for some that’s a great strategy, others would say “Begin to look for what is good about your current job, you can learn to be happy where you are!” Again this can be a useful strategy to experiment with, especially as you already know that you see more of what you look for in life.

Today I’d like you to consider an alternative approach, I’d like to tackle the problem at the root and look at one of the major sources of a lack of self-confidence.

I’d like you to review another example of my initial question:

    Is your life perfect?

    March 11th, 2008

Yes, your life is a perfect example of what you have done with excellence throughout your life and so is everyone else’s around you.

In the last article I introduced the concept that each of us has own unique ‘model of the world’ and we can often get the best results by sharing maps. These two steps alone cannot fail to have an impact. Just identifying that where we are is not where we want to be makes it very difficult to settle for the status quo any longer. We feel compelled to make changes – to take action – and that means making some decisions!

The Power of a Promise (Chapter 6)

    March 10th, 2008

Imagine for a moment that you are waiting for an important meeting. You’ve been up since the early hours preparing, and you’re really excited about how things are developing. You arrive five minutes early and the clock ticks slowly on as the designated time approaches. You are on tenterhooks, excited and apprehensive. Then as the clock hand moves slowly past the appointed time you begin to wonder where the other person is. Self-doubt sets in. What could have happened? Are you in the right place? Have you got the wrong time? In the end you decide that whatever happened they’re not going to turn up. Deflated and dejected, you make your way home.

What should you be doing today? (Chapter 7)

    March 10th, 2008

Would you be interested in buying a really simple, user-friendly tool that would allow you more control over your life, help you to recognise your choices in any given situation, and at the same time increase your productivity and peace of mind?

How much would this be worth to you?
