Comfort Zones or Walls in your mind

    March 11th, 2009

Well the Fear Program is now closed but I thought I’d share this with you, have you ever thought how “staying safe” is robbing you of a full life?

This short video will explain how you create limits in your life and what to do about it (you’ll need your speakers turned on to hear the audio) .

    Bye for now,

    Anth.

    Could you be a robot?

    January 15th, 2009

Would you be surprised to hear that one of the most empowering things you can do to take control of your life is to admit that you have almost no control?

Now this might sound strange coming from someone who is dedicating his time to helping you to take more control and empower yourself to overcome those bad habits and create a life you love.

    But let me explain.

    Are you disciplined enough?

    January 8th, 2009

It’s happened again, the New Year’s begun and the gyms are bursting with people who have decided to get fit and or lose weight.

People were queuing to get into our local gym yesterday evening and when I mentioned this to the physiotherapist this morning he said; well everyone knows that by the end of February it’ll be quite again.

It seems that the moments such as the coming of a new year, significant birthdays, the end of relationships etc. when we “wake up” to the passing of time in our lives many people decide they want to take action on turning their lives around. Read the rest of this entry »

    I can’t do that…

    November 28th, 2008

I’ve got a confession, the first week or so after my recent operation to plate my broken collar bone with my mind clouded by a lack of sleep mixed with the cycle of pain and grogginess due to the pain killers - I started to get into day-time T.V. documentaries.

One of my favourites was Ray Mears “Bushcraft” (Ray Mears is a British survival expert who tours the world learning the bush skills of native peoples).

In one particular episode he was teaching a bunch of people “friction bow” fire lighting. What I found fascinating was when he said that after watching for only a few minutes he could tell who was going to succeed and who wasn’t.

What would his observations predict about your life?

Would you like a “Magic Pill”?

    November 14th, 2008

There is no doubt we live in culture of rapid change, technological and medical breakthroughs seem to happen every few weeks.

Advertisers know that on average people’s attention span is shrinking and they are tailoring their advertisements to suit. They know they that you want instant quick fixes to the problems you face in your life.

    So that’s what they’re promising…

… and that’s what most people are buying!

Their messages appear plausible for a least two reasons: Read the rest of this entry »

The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men

    November 3rd, 2008

The great Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote this line in about 1785 describing the quandary that no matter how carefully one plans things they often can and will go wrong.

I had a very painful reminder of this a few weeks ago Read the rest of this entry »

    Celebrity Self-Help?

    October 9th, 2008

I recently watched a programme on TV by a British Journalist Dawn Porter and it really got me thinking about the power of creating a powerful future vision and the possible effects on your life.

Dawn seems to be on a mission to help herself and other women feel good about themselves whatever their body shape and I say more power to her.

So how could her mission help you?

Do you already know this about labels?

    August 22nd, 2008

As children we are born and have to begin to make sense of the world, we begin to build up our control of our bodies and begin to create out maps of how the world works from direct experience – anyone who has spent any time around a child will know that they can question even your most basic assumptions and have you stumped for an answer.

I was once driving along through a beautiful crisp winter’s dawn in the Yorkshire dales driving a 3 year old boy to nursery, like all children he was full of questions…

My favourite question he asked that morning was: Read the rest of this entry »

    The myth of beliefs

    May 20th, 2008

Have you ever noticed how sayings and quotes get bounced around and just seem to become accepted as true?

Today, I want to talk about one of the guiding principles of the personal development, NLP and coaching fields. You’ve probably heard it in many forms and today I’m tired of hearing speakers, trainers and coaches reciting it like it were the word of God.

I’m standing up and saying “The king has no clothes”

Are you really free to choose?

    April 23rd, 2008

One sure fire way to recognise that you’re are not taking personal responsibility for your life is when you find yourself thinking you HAVE to do certain things. The truth is there is always a choice!

You might not be totally comfortable with the idea that you are choosing every aspect of your life yet, but once all the arguing is over the only thing that you can truly control is your reaction to what happens around you.

I’m a big fan of stacking the deck in your favour by being proactive and working towards what you want. But, no matter how well you set goals, plan and take action some things will just ‘blind side’ you and in many ways it’s how you choose to react to the set backs of your life that will control how your life turns out day to day.

But is it really that simple?
